Lazy Sunday

Hi there siestas, family and friends!
Yvette, thanks for asking about lunch w/Elena last Friday. It went well. It was a gorgeous day and because they have assigned seats in the lunch room Elena and I had a nice lunch outside in the eating area just outside in a small courtyard with other picnic tables. I met one friend of hers Mia after we ate and picked up some more questionnaires from the teachers for the bi-weekly updates to see how Elena is improving on and what she still needs help with. So far, she is only doing well in Science with a 100% feedback of completing her work. It is a rare event when a parent comes to eat with their student I could tell because a couple of the teachers from other teams came up to me smiling from ear to ear and thanking me! I don't need to be thanked for having lunch with my own child but at the same time it made me sad for the other students who would probably like it if their mom or dad could come see them some times. Elena handed me a sweet note she had written thanking me for being there too. That was so sweet. Having lunch with Elena didn't happen in 6th grade but it was not un-common during her years at the Elementary school. I was there quite often.
That night Elena had a 4 hour rehearsal for the musical and Jim and I went to a small Italian restaurant in our area. It's been there for at least a year or more but we never had a chance to go. Doesn't serve alcohol which wasn't a problem and the food was all homemade and quite good. Our waitress was a little retarded we think but she did a good job. We will probably return some time. Jim surprised me with a beautiful necklace and it was truly a surprise!
This weekend in Greenville was 'Fall for Greenville' where more than 40 vendors was there with samples of their food from local restaurants. Many free concerts was going on in different areas as well downtown. Tyler Florence was to be there for two cooking demonstrations but he never left San Francisco so one of the local area chefs from 'Two Chefs' was there and he did very good. It would of been nice to have seen Tyler Florence in person being he is a native of Greenville, SC but it wasn't too much of a letdown because that chef did a great job showing his version of clam chowder and his bakery chef showed us how to make a non-bake pumpkin cheese cake.
This week will be short but busy. Elena only has 4 days of school this week but it's the ending of this first semesters grading period. This coming weekend is the big show in town of the Schmooney and friends. The director wanted me to send a head shot of Elena and a brief write up for the playbill they are going to try and compile. BIG TIME NOW FRIENDS! Here is the picture we took and picked to put in the program.

What a nice picture of Elena... good choice! Her personality shows through, she looks sweet.
Wish we had a chance to go to school for lunch, I would love that, but they don't do that up here. You are very fortunate to have the opportunity to do so. Glad you enjoyed it!

Glad you both enjoyed lunch. ;0)
What does your necklace look like?
The festival sounds like fun, we love things like that.
